Summary This position is located in Everglades National Park, in the Facility and Maintenance Division. This is a Career/Career-Conditional Full-time appointment. Occupancy of government quarters is required. Responsibilities This job announcement is open to receive applications from the first 100 applicants. DUTIES: The primary purpose of the position is to perform building and/or utility maintenance and operation duties. Incumbent utilizes journeyman knowledge and skills in several trades and crafts. Constructs, alters, modifies or repairs a wide range of features in buildings, quarters and other facilities. Installs, modifies, and repairs new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, and showers, and lay out of such things as angles, arcs, and circles. Performs painting duties with little oversight and/or review of work during progress or upon completion. From oral instructions, blueprints, work orders, and rough sketches, incumbent plans and lays out masonry work, selects the proper tools, determines materials to be used, and accomplishes the work in accordance with appropriate methods and accepted trade practices with no technical assistance. Working from building plans, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings, plans, lays out, troubleshoots, and completes electrical work with little or no technical advice. Interprets and applies the National Electrical Code, local codes, building plans, blue prints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
