  • Summary Administrative Officer located in Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, in the Administration Division. Responsibilities Major Duties: The primary responsibility of this position is to advise the Management Team on a wide range of administrative functions as these apply to the park and to direct (or obtain services of) specialists, technicians and clerical support positions in delivering services to management and employees of the park. As a member of the park management team, plans and monitors development of complex park-wide programs, procedures, operating policies, and internal controls. Initiates business studies to assess conditions that impact the effectiveness of park operations, develops new programs, improves effectiveness, resolves complex problems, and takes other management actions to ensure maximum probability of mission success. Builds within the management team and staff an appreciation of the role of administration in accomplishing the mission of the park and a working environment that recognizes administration as a partner in the operational, planning, and partnership programs of the park. Responsible for keeping the park\'s revenues and spending in balance through authoritative advice and supervision of administrative staff. Participates as a full member of the park leadership team with the Superintendent and Division Chiefs in formulating and annually updating broad program management plans and associated budgets. Oversees budget estimates and justifications for all park programs. Oversees administrative services functions, including Payroll and Timekeeping, Bills of Collection, Payment of Invoices, Internal Controls and Audits, and Travel Services. Oversees the work of employees in charge of property management and control systems of the park.
