JOB SUMMARY The Elections Specialist performs a wide variety of specialized clerical and administrative duties related to voter registration processing and file maintenance, assisting with the preparation and conduction of elections in a non-partisan manner and certifying petitions for inclusion on the County ballot in accordance with Montana Election Codes and other applicable local, state and federal laws, rules and regulations. Duties include collecting accurate voter information, processing registrations, changes, and deletions, ensuring adequate election supplies are on hand, scheduling election judges, preparing and distributing official election registers, coordinating absentee voting, counting cast ballots, providing support to the canvassing board, verifying and certifying submitted petitions, and performing other related duties associated with the elections process as required or assigned by the Elections Administrator. This is a temporary position that operates during peak election cycle times on a short-term, occasional basis. This position will terminate when the position is no longer necessary to meet and/or address undue disruption to the operational needs of the Elections Department caused by peak election cycle demands as determined by the Elections Administrator. The duration of employment is not anticipated to exceed nine (9) months. Responsibilities This position is located in the Directorate of Resource Management (DRM) of an Army National Guard Garrison Training Center (GTC) Level III/IV and above. The purpose of this position is to serve as a financial advisor to the Base Operations Manager, providing technical assistance concerning the overall fiscal management program including preplanning, budgeting, programming, funds allocation, procurement, commercial accounts management, payrolls, accounting, internal controls, auditing, and reporting. If an indefinite employee (tenure 3) in the Title 32 Excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will retain their indefinite status AND may return to their previous Title 32 indefinite position if it is still available. INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT - For Current Title 5 selectees only: This is an obligated position. If an on-board employee in the Title 5 excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will convert to a T32 indefinite appointment (tenure 3). This employee will have no reemployment rights to their previous T5 position. INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT - State National Guard Members (includes T32 NTE employees and MTNG members not currently a federal employee): This is an obligated position.
