The Area VI Agency on Aging plans, provides and contracts for services to older Americans, persons with disabilities and veterans within the planning and service area including the Counties of Lake, Lincoln, Mineral, Sanders and the Flathead Reservation. Some aspects of this position may require travel, per diem and mileage is paid. The Driver/Operator is responsible for providing safe and accessible transportation for Senior Citizens, Persons with Disabilities, and the General Public. Safe operation of vehicles in Lake County and surrounding counties, occasional longer distance travel may be necessary. This position is classified as a safety sensitive position and is subject to drug and alcohol testing as per Drug and Alcohol Policy Manual. Position is directly supervised daily by the Transportation Coordinator/Dispatcher. Responsibilities: -Operates vehicles in a safe and prudent manner. Adhering to all traffic laws, regulations, and agency policies to ensure the safety of passengers, pedestrians, and other motorists. -Provide courteous and professional customer service to passengers, addressing inquiries, and assisting with route information and fare payment. -Works closely with Transportation Coordinator/Dispatcher and other drivers. -Maintains daily log of mileage, passengers and fees when driving. -Conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles to ensure proper functioning and reporting any maintenance or safety concerns to supervisors. -Attendance at monthly safety meetings. -Fuels vehicle at end of shift if less than three-fourths (3/4) full. -Driver tracks and advises Transportation Coordinator when the assigned vehicle is to be scheduled for service, lubrication, or maintenance. -Keep the assigned vehicle clean, inside, and outside. -Ensure the safety of all passengers by assisting them in and out of vehicles and assuring that all safety belts are secured before the vehicle is in motion. -Collects fees for service and turns into Transportation Coordinator/Dispatcher daily. -Communicating effectively with dispatchers and supervisors to report any potential safety or health hazards to the Transportation Coordinator as soon as practical and correct those within their authority. -Reports any job-related accidents or injuries to the Transportation Coordinator and Executive Director as soon as possible and within 24 hours of incident. -Knowledgeable of all services offered by the agency and refers clients to the appropriate employee for further assistance or resources. -Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Preferred: -Experience in working with elderly and disabled. -Pass Certification upon first available training. -Accurate record keeping. Maintain strict client confidentiality. -Neat and clean in appearance. -Honest and dependable. -Excellent customer service. -Considerable skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with diverse population. Required: -Must pass drug and alcohol screen prior to employment. -Will participate in Random and/or for Cause alcohol and drug screening. -Excellent, insurable driving record. -PASS Certification as soon as available. -Valid Drivers License, good driving history.
