Title: Behavioral Interventionist Paraprofessional FY2425121 Reports to: Building Principal Status: 7.5 hours/day M-F (Schedule may vary) – 9 Month Position Grade 2 – Non-Exempt - $18.75 – $20.25/hour – Paraprofessionals Union Location: Saddle Peak Elementary Essential Job Duties Assists classroom teachers with individual students to eliminate or replace disruptive, harmful or negative behaviors with positive actions. Assist highly disruptive students Assist with playground, breakfast, lunchroom duties Assists in gathering pertinent information for the development of appropriate behavioral intervention plans. Assists in progress monitoring and the collection of student behavioral data regarding implementation plans to ensure student success. Assists building staff to implement positive reinforcement-based classroom management systems. Assists transportation staff regarding the use of behavioral management programs on buses. Provides direct support to students to enhance teacher and specialist instruction. Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention plans that address the behavioral needs of students, such as IEP’s,504’s and Behavior Intervention Plans. Attends and participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, IEP meetings, and other meetings as required. Complies with Board policies, rules, regulations, and directives. Reports cases of suspected child abuse according to state law. Participates in faculty meetings, educational conferences, professional training seminars, and workshops. Assists with the input of behavior data in corresponding systems Intervention procedures and prevention work with at risk students Performs other related duties as assigned Knowledge Skills Abilities Knowledge of safety practices and procedures. Knowledge to analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Ability to follow oral or written work orders from supervisor, and to coordinate work with principal and others. Ability to read, write and speak English fluently. Ability to be flexible to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, the public, and staff members. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. Ability to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events, gather, collate, and/or classify data and use job-related equipment. Skill in adhering to safety practices. Skill in preparing and maintaining accurate records and using pertinent software applications (as required). Equipment Used Computer, calculator, copier, telephone/voice mail, fax, wheelchairs and other special needs equipment. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent; Or Minimum of two years of secondary education; or Certification in the district approved crisis intervention techniques or ability to become certified within three months of employment. (District will provide training if needed). Successful experience working with students with behavioral needs. Necessary special requirements: Montana Driver’s license or the ability to obtain license within three months of hire date. Physical and Mental Demands and Work Hazards Performs routine work. Regularly works inside with minimal temperature variations. Ability to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Frequently required to sit, occasionally walk and stand and reach with hands or arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Significant fine finger dexterity Required to be able to hear conversations in loud and quiet environments. May be required to lift or carry up to 10 - 30 pounds on a routine basis with or without an accommodation. Frequently involved in interactions with hostile/aggressively acting students. The employee frequently works within time constraints and must maintain attentiveness intensity. Frequently involved in interactions which require oral and written communications. Exercises flexibility and the ability to shift from one task to another. Frequent travel/mobility between schools, or between schools and the Administration office, may be required. Effective hearing and speech abilities. Work area is generally a hazard free environment. Demonstrates regular attendance performing duties as described. Reports to work fit for duty with characteristics inherent to the position. Hours: 15-40 hours a week. Flexible depending on season and applicant\'s desire.
This is a full-time permanent position. Will work Monday thru Friday 6am-6pm. The employer does offer some flexibility. The wage is $13.50/hr starting. Will be watching over children in a daycare setting. Will help with daily activities, meal preparation, meal serving and clean up.
Location preferred in Butte; other major office locations in Montana (Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls, Helena, Missoula) or South Dakota may be considered
