The Progressive Care Unit RN, as a professional practitioner, assumes the responsibility and accountability for delivering patient care to telemetry/progressive care patients. The Progressive Care Unit RN demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner with supervision. This individual employs critical thinking and performance ability in the coordinator of patient care, consistently performs according to nursing standards, and is accountable in managing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care. The Progressive Care Unit RN is sometimes also called a step-down nurse, cardiac stepdown, neuro stepdown, surgical stepdown and in some medical centers, the PCU is also known as a transition or intermedia unit.
As a professional practitioner, the RN - Telemetry assumes the responsibility and accountability for delivery of patient care of telemetry patients. The RN – Telemetry demonstrates the ability to make clinical judgments in an effective and efficient manner, with supervision. The RN - Telemetry exhibits critical thinking and performance ability in the coordination of patient care, and consistently performs according to nursing standards while remaining accountable for providing patient care and assisting others in the management of patient care.

Oversees project work of a complex nature associated with front door/digital functionalities and applications, aimed at creating robust front door/digital access to the health system and executing virtual care. Focusing on the customer and team member experience, the manager is responsible for experience technology and business innovation plans, designs, implementation, and project management. Nurtures vendor relationships and manages vendor support. The responsibilities are accomplished by leading system-wide clinical, operational, and technical departments, in addition to collaborating with Henry Ford Health IT to project manage, support, maintain and leverage access/care technology.

Patient Access representatives also must employ proper, compliant patient liability collection techniques before, during & after date of service. Greeting customers following Conifer Standards of Care, provides world-class customer service, completes full patient registration at date of service, adheres to financial & cash control policies & procedures, thoroughly explains and secures Hospital & patient legal forms (i.e., Advance Directives, Conditions of services, Consent for treatment, Important Message from Medicare, EMTALA, etc.). Scan Protected Health Information, create and file patient information packets/folders for upcoming Hospital services. May also assist with scheduling diagnostic procedures (enters data in scheduling system, provide customer with appointment instructions, other tasks as needed). Educates patients about patient financial liabilities, employs proper, compliant patient liability collection techniques before, during & after date of service, performs Hospital cash reconciliation & secured payment entry in adherence to financial & cash control policies & procedures. Secures medical necessity checks/verification in accordance to Centers for Medicare & Medicaid services, verifies insurance, benefits, coverage & eligibility, completes assigned registration financial clearance work lists activities, obtains insurance authorizations for scheduled & unscheduled Hospital services, and secures inpatient visit notification to payors. May also assist with scheduling and coordinating post discharge care for patients.
