Summary The primary purpose of the position is to conduct maintenance, repair and restoration programs consisting of the following activities: periodic visual and operational inspections of buildings to determine repairs and/or service required. Inspections include but are not limited to masonry buildings and structures both, contemporary and historic. Responsibilities Responsible for the maintenance, repair, alteration and construction of exterior and interior surfaces and structures built of brick, stone and block. Repairs and maintains historic masonry on buildings, parapets, and boundary fences, chimneys, fireplaces, manholes, and boilers. Must be able to match existing historic surfaces. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of mixing techniques, applications, etc. Must have extensive skills in cutting and shaping block, terra cotta, brick and stone. Incumbent must be able to remove portions of walls, partitions or other similar structures and repair in kind, and for the installation of doors and windows. Must be able to patch and/or replace stucco, including paper, wire, scratch and brown coats, to match existing historic surfaces.
