This is a Direct Hire Authority solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position serves as an Engineering Technician providing drafting services in support of Tobyhanna Army Depot\'s mission. Responsibilities Utilize practical Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) knowledge in a variety of engineering disciplines such as mechanical and electrical. Provide advice to engineers concerning support capabilities that reduce time-consuming manual activities by accomplishing them using CAE software. Prepare and check final drawings and specifications before submission to supervisor or lead engineer. Coordinate branch designs to be used by other branches at the depot (Manufacturing Cell, Supply Chain, Fabrication Operations) to ensure designs are able to meet the fabricated needs of Tobyhanna Army Depot (Procure, build, test, inspect). Configure and sets-up routes (CAPP-Computer Aided Process Plans) and manufacturing bills of material (BOM) to optimize the supply chain for schedule adherence, material supply, inventory considerations. PHYSICAL EFFORT Worker makes repairs in cramped and awkward positions where parts worked on are in hard-to-reach places. Required to stand, stoop, bend, stretch, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Frequently lifts parts and equipment that weigh up to 20 pounds. Occasionally, may lift and carry items that weigh about 50 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed inside where it is drafty and noisy and fumes from vehicles are usually present. Worker must frequently stand on hard surfaces for long periods of time. There are times when work is performed on hard, usually damp surfaces. Occasionally called upon to perform repairs outside, sometimes in bad weather. Dirt, dust, and grease are always present. Vehicle fluids such as battery acids and hydraulic fluids may cause burns or irritate the skin. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, bruises, shocks, burns, and strains.
