PURPOSE AND SCOPE:
At Houston Methodist, the Clerical Coordinator position is responsible for providing administrative support to the department while executing daily operations efficiently and accurately and performing duties of other office staff. In addition to providing oversight of department resources to align with budgetary goals and objectives, as appropriate, this position is responsible for coordinating projects and work as assigned, which may include scheduling and organizing meetings, coordinating department activities, preparing presentations, processing documents, e.g. medical records, etc., as needed. Additional duties for the Clerical Coordinator position may require considerable experience, skill and knowledge of organization\'s policies and practices, operating a personal computer and utilizing software applications for word processing, presentations and databases. The Clerical Coordinator position requires the ability to coordinate and complete projects with minimal supervision and must be capable of working independently or as part of a team.
At Houston Methodist, the Multi-Site Senior Medical Assistant, (Multi-Site Sr. MA) position is responsible for working at multiple sites, within multiple specialties and service lines. The Multi-Site Sr. MA is responsible for providing high quality support of patient care and services, while functioning as an expert and demonstrating highly competent knowledge in the more technical and advanced examinations and treatments. The Multi-Site Sr. MA must communicate appropriately and carry out delegated medical assistant level tasks for the assigned patient population, under the direct supervision of a Physician, APP and/or Registered Nurse. This position oversees appropriate scope of practice, (i.e. Hand Hygiene Validator, EMR super-user) as well as performing patient check in/check out functions, appointment scheduling, ensuring medical necessity compliance and verifying eligibility for care. This position supports timely, accurate claims submission and may perform registration and/or other revenue cycle functions. The Multi-Site Sr. MA position assists with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, treatment, and dressing changes. This position also performs general administrative duties in accordance with CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA and government standards as well as company policies and procedures.
At Houston Methodist, the Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist I position completes a variety of routine diagnostic and vascular ultrasound procedures to include common and special ultrasound exams of moderate complexity. This position provides direct assistance to physicians with all diagnostic and special ultrasound/vascular procedures. The Ultrasound/Vascular Technologist I position delivers exceptional patient care and adheres to ultrasound exam standards and guidelines established by governing agencies to ensure optimal patient safety and customer service. This position is a member of the direct patient care team.
At Houston Methodist, the Senior Patient Access Associate position is responsible for obtaining and entering accurate demographic and insurance information in the electronic health record (EHR) on patients presenting at the various entry points of the facility. This position performs cashiering functions, ensuring that all hospital accounts are secure, through the collection of the required co-pay, deductibles and co-insurance. This position also performs the medical necessity check, to ensure compliance with Medicare guidelines, and regularly works in multiple areas (e.g., emergency department registration, main registration, bed management, cashier, etc.) and/or EHR work queues specific to patient access. The Senior Patient Access Associate employs effective communication skills, promoting excellent customer service in every interaction, and serves as a resource, trainer and mentor to other team members. This position is also required to adhere to all departments, hospital, governmental and/or any other healthcare licensing agency requirements related to the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA) and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

This position ensures quality patient surgical and/or ancillary services scheduling by acting as a liaison between patient, facility, and providers to ensure exams, tests, and procedures are scheduled timely, accurately, and appropriately. The Scheduler may also pre-register patients timely in the electronic health record (EHR) so pre-certification, authorization, and verification of insurance benefits can be obtained in a timely manner.

Responsibilities include performing more complex processes related to scheduling or other department related protocols and serving as a role model and mentor to less experienced staff. This position supports timely, accurate claims submission and may perform registration and/or other revenue cycle functions. Other duties include providing general operations assistance and/or patient service tasks specific to the scope of the department.
