  • Independently operate, maintain, repair and inspect water treatment systems at treatment plant, wells and similar work in the water distribution system (pump stations, storage tanks, fire hydrants, etc). Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic, using hand tools and power tools. Joins pipe by use of screws, bolts, fittings, couplers, solder, plastic solvent and caulks joints. Required to run hand augers, power augers, sump pumps, electric and manual snake pots, jet rodders, and mini rooter. Performs repairs and inspections in and under buildings. Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, urinals, toilets etc. Outside hydrants, repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains, repair water fountains and urinals. Employees are required to drive company vehicles on a Federal Installation.
