Summary The Housekeeping Aid-Environmental Services (EVS) Technician Leader is responsible for supporting and performing tasks (e.g., environment of care, textile distribution and training) associated with the Environmental Management Services goals and objectives. Ensure employees are performing the full range of housekeeping tasks required to maintain the Medical center and other facility units in a clean, organized and sanitary condition. Responsibilities Lead housekeeping aids in the accomplishment of daily housekeeping duties to ensure cleanliness of the facility is maintained. Perform limited supervisory duties such as checking in/out attendance and issuing work assignments in the absence of the supervisor. Work independently to carry out assigned objectives. Perform and lead team members in housekeeping duties such as cleaning, disinfecting and deodorizing all patient and public restrooms. Perform and lead team members in housekeeping duties such as bed making, sweeping and mopping floors, buffing, shampooing, vacuuming and cleaning carpet, and performing high and low dusting. Perform and lead team members in housekeeping duties such as washing walls, blinds, woodwork and the interior side of windows, polishing metal fixtures, cleaning glass doors, windows, and other glass surfaces. Interpret instructions pertaining to cleaning agents to ensure they are properly used to prevent damage to floors, furniture, walls and fixtures. Interpret policies, procedures and instructions to properly train housekeeping aids on proper mixing and safe and economical utilization of cleaning supplies. Interpret specific written methods, techniques, and procedures and oral and written instructions of the supervisor. Follow and train team members on specific steps to operate equipment and accessory tools such as wet/dry vacuum, scrubbing machines, wall washing equipment, rug shampooer, and spray and steam cleaning devices. Train team members to select proper equipment to perform specific tasks. Make minor repairs to tools and equipment when performing daily maintenance. Follow proper safety techniques and procedures to ensure regular and safe functioning of the facility. Follow all safety regulations and practices to prevent injury to self, patients, visitors and employees, or damage to government property. Follow sanitation procedures and infection control principles to maintain an aseptically clean and pleasant environment for patient care activities. Working Conditions: The work is accomplished in a variety of different areas including operating rooms, treatment rooms, examination rooms, imaging rooms, wards and other public, recreational and administrative areas. Protective clothing and personnel protective equipment (PPE) including gowns, gloves, safety shoes, masks, etc. is required in the accomplishment of some aspects of the work. There is the potential for exposure to strong cleaning solutions, bodily fluids and communicable disease. The work can involve occupied patient rooms and interaction with both medical and psychiatric patients. May be required to work inside and outside. May require some exposure to hazardous cleaning chemicals. Education There is no educational substitution. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORKING CONDITIONS: Inspector is occasionally exposed to vibration. Inspector is frequently exposed to machine shop fabricating areas and their distinctive smells and solvents. Inspector may be exposed to mold release compounds, greases, oils, cutting, and/or hydraulic fluids from the machining/molding process. The noise level in the inspection areas is usually quiet; hearing protection is provided when noise levels are excessive. Safety glasses are required in machine shop fabricating area. Safety shoes are required in machine shop fabricating area and receiving warehouse areas. Most of the danger encountered in this position is from sharp edges of tools, equipment, and machinery. Exposed to possibility of cuts, bruises, and scrapes. Must be alert for production control (PCs) who route and deliver rotary wing aircraft components using roll lifts, forklifts near the inspection areas as well as Automated Ground Vehicles (AGVs).
