JOB DESCRIPTION: BOXER/SERVER Under the directions of the Materials Lead, incumbent is responsible for ensuring the safe packing and shipment of glass and other materials to be distributed to customers. Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Constructs boxes for the purpose of packing glass to be shipped. Ensures that all parts to be shipped out are packed in boxes, banded accurately and that all glass is secure and ready for shipment. Loads full boxes into trucks for shipment. Observes and adheres to all safety related rules and procedures. Assisting in departmental housekeeping, maintaining a clean and orderly workstation. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Must have the ability to utilize hand tools including air hammers. Ability to read, write and understand verbal instructions. Must have ability to do simple calculations. Must be able to communicate effectively. Must be able to drive a tow motor and maintain appropriate certification. DIFFICULTY OF WORK The work consists of tasks or duties requiring some previous knowledge and understanding. The incumbent works with established guidelines and procedures and uses judgment to analyze and recommend improvements for operating procedures and maintenance. RESPONSIBILITY Work is of some complexity requiring a moderate degree of decision making in the application of procedures and methods in determining appropriate remedies for varied and diverse set-up problems. Work is performed under the direction of the Materials Lead, with periodic review of assignments. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS Incumbent has contact with other plant employees. The purpose of these contacts is to exchange information regarding immediate needs and specific processes within the production line and to maintain production and quality standards and goals. Line 84 Operator The CNC Operator will perform several functions necessary to ensure that bent and flat glass is precision cut and ground to the specifications as defined in the product blueprint before glass is finished and shipped to the customer. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS DUTIES Safely operates CNC Meets production standards as defined by management. Operates the equipment to desired process parameters and procedures. Maintains integrity of process maintaining supply levels for CNC Maintains accurate documentation through necessary record keeping including completing all paperwork assigned to workstation. Communicates to supervisor in a timely manner, all concerns related to safety, quality and productivity. Maintains the daily operation of the equipment. Observes and adheres to all safety related rules and procedures. Assisting in departmental housekeeping, maintaining a clean and orderly workstation. Performs other duties as assigned. REQUIREMENTS Ability to communicate both orally and in writing following detailed instructions as provided. Ability to maintain production flow. Basic knowledge or understanding of CNC Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions. Ability to understand work processes, methods and use of equipment. Ability to communicate to supervisor any concerns related to safety, quality and productivity. DIFFICULTY OF WORK Work consists of simple, routine, repetitive tasks. A moderate degree of care and skill is required to ensure completeness and accuracy of cut glass according to supplied specifications. A significant degree of care and skill is necessary to ensure that the process continues, and product delivery occurs with minimal amount of disruption. PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS Incumbent has contact with other plant employees. The purposes of these contacts are to exchange information regarding specific standards to maintain production standards and goals. RESPONSIBILITY Responsible for following instructions both written and verbal, reading all information pertaining to specifications and procedures, and operating within these parameters.
