Summary This position is located onsite with the Area Human Resources Staff for Agriculture Research Service (ARS), Pacific West Area (PWA), in Albany, CA. This position is designed to serve as a developmental experience and in conjunction with formal education, to provide the incumbent with the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities for employment in the Human Resources function in a civil service career. Responsibilities As a trainee, the incumbent receives formal training, and work assignments are selected to provide on-the-job training. The incumbent works closely with a higher-level HR Specialist to perform all pieces required for classification and staffing a civil service position. Compiles material, statistics, and workload data, etc. for inclusion in reports, special emphasis programs, and for analysis of current and future staffing requirements. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement as defined below. PATHWAYS PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY: Applicants must be currently enrolled or accepted for enrollment from a qualifying educational institution on a full or half-time basis. Applicants must be seeking a degree (diploma, certificate, etc.) and be in good academic standing (GPA of 2.0 or equivalent) throughout the duration of their program. Please see \"Required Documents.\" The duties of the position must be related to either the student\'s academic or career goals that are related to the duties and responsibilities of the position. GS-05: Education: Completion of four (4) academic years of post-high school leading to a bachelor\'s degree or equivalent degree. Applicants will be assessed/evaluated through application of the agency developed qualification standard for internship positions, which is based solely on level of education. Education You must submit a copy of your college transcripts. An unofficial copy is sufficient with the application if it includes your name and the necessary course information; however, if you are selected, you will be required to submit official transcripts prior to entering on duty. Additional Information Student Interns must continue to meet the Pathways Program requirements throughout the duration of the appointment. Incumbents will be required to provide proof of continued enrollment and good standing 2.0 GPA each semester or grading period throughout the internship program. Failure to do so will result in termination of the appointment. Upon completion of all program requirements, Pathways Interns may be converted to a term, career-conditional or career appointment within 180 days following successful completion of all their education; however, conversion is not guaranteed. The full performance level (FPL) of the position to which converted may be up to the GS-12 level. This position may be eligible to telework up to two days per week or four days a bi-weekly pay period, based upon the duties of the position. This position may also be eligible for flexible work arrangements as determined by agency policy and any applicable collective bargaining agreements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES 70% Facility Security and Maintenance Maintain a welcoming and professional image for visitors at WHQ, ensuring they are accurately directed to the appropriate individual or department. Help develop, update and maintain physical security policies for the Credit Union. Coordinate with physical security vendors to update, repair and install physical security equipment. Under the guidance of the Facilities and Security manager, provide consultation and direction related to physical security exposures to the Credit Union. Assist in coordinating all physical security and emergency related functions for all Credit Union facilities including maintaining rapport with federal and state law enforcement agencies. Order and maintain supplies for orientation swag and other onboarding needs. Process and distribute incoming and outgoing mail, including managing returned mail and address updates.
