  • DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is technical work involving the collection and compilation of a variety of environmental information including information required for conducting hydrologic and geologic assessment of environmentally sensitive areas in connection with municipal planning. The incumbent serves as a source of information for environmental matters including applicable New York City watershed regulations. Provides advice and assistance to businesses, municipalities and others involved in the implementation of Best Management Practices (BMPs) such as storm water control. May oversee the work of subcontractors. The work is performed under the general supervision of Environmental Planner. Direct supervision is exercised over field crews collecting data. Does related work as required.<p> FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of principles, practices, purposes and techniques used in researching environmental factors; Good knowledge of the methods and techniques of collection and interpretation of data; Good knowledge of environmental sciences, geology, hydrology and soils; Working knowledge of planning, watershed management and environmental modeling; Working knowledge of use of the global positioning system in conjunction with environmental mapping; Working knowledge of the use of GIS in environmental planning; Ability to plan and supervise the work of others; Ability to prepare and maintain complex records and reports; Ability to present ideas clearly and effectively both orally and in writing; Ability to deal effectively with others; Ability to work independently; Good judgement; Initiative; Dependability; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. <p> MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: <br> A. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college with a Bachelors degree in environment sciences, environmental engineering, environmental planning or related field; OR<br> B. Have a working knowledge of Safety Methods and Procedures. (i.e. Proper Lifting Techniques, Proper Knife Handling Techniques, MSDS, etc)2. Assure the type and quality of cheese being used matches the customer specifications, food safety & quality standards, and efficiency standards through product inspections.3. Assure the machine is set up correctly for the run prior to running cheese.4. Neatly, accurately and legibly maintain all records and documentation.5. Operate metal detectors as needed, including completing required paperwork.6. Perform minor maintenance and/or Preventative Maintenance (PM) to equipment.7. Promotes and maintains accurate communications between Supervisors, Line Leads, Shipping, and Maintenance on both shifts and Sanitation.8. Assist with Quality Assurance (QA) protocols and documentation as required by the QA department.9. Keep work area neat, clean and organized at all times.10. Minimizes waste of supplies and cheese.11.
