    Job Overview: A hospital Lead Pharmacy Technician is a healthcare professional who plays an integral role in the pharmacy operations. Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist, the pharmacy technician assists the pharmacist in the distribution of medications to patients in the hospital (inpatient and outpatient units, emergency room, and operating room). The distribution of medications, includes but is not limited to, selecting, counting, compounding, packing, labeling, and delivering medications to the units. The Lead Pharmacy Technician are responsible for the preparation of sterile compounds, including chemotherapy and hazardous substances. Lead Pharmacy Technicians act as resource and subject matter experts to the other Pharmacy Technicians, intervening in challenging situations and working to resolve escalated issues.
